What is inherited? What is passed down and How does it change? How are genes expressed?
Through my current body of work, I am exploring the concept of heredity.
I begin with a intuitive non-objective painting or drawing. This work is then digitally manipulated, flipped and mirrored. I then transfer the image to the canvas in pencil and complete the painting in acrylic.
The same original work is adapted to multiple paintings. the lineage becomes apparent when looking at the work as a series. Each series is a family, and the shapes are hereditary, passed down like genes. There are mutations, variations, and idiosyncrasies In each descendent.
Like individuals, the Work stands alone, but each is linked to a hidden ancestry.
